Liebster Blog Award {Bookish}

Liebster Blog Award

Well, this was such a wonderful surprise! My sweet, amazeballs friend Stefani at Caught Read Handed has nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award. If you haven’t visited her blog, please stop what you’re doing and go there. Now. GO! NOW! Thanks! Her blog is so well done, sharp, funny and perfect! It’s seriously awesome.

Now to the questions….

1. What is your preferred reading format? E-book, paperback, hardback?

I prefer the kind you can read. Too generic? Ugh, fine okay, I tend to love paper back, then hard back and then e-book. I tend to only read e-books if they’re ARCs. Which reminds me…I have Netgalley books I have to read. Crap.

2. If you could only recommend one book for another to read, what would it be and why?

If a gun is to my head, I’ll tell them to read A Tree Grows in Brooklyn by Betty Smith. It’s my favorite and I tell everyone to read it. If there isn’t a gun to my head, and I can think about newer books I’ve read, then I might could tell them to read Out of the Easy by Ruta Sepetys, as it blew my mind.

3. One of the recent themes of Top Ten Tuesday was: if you like this TV show/film, you should read this book. Provide a book recommendation based on your favorite film or TV show.

I’ve never done the TTT but after talking to Stefani yesterday, I’ve decided to give it a whirl. So, with that said, I don’t watch a ton of TV shows that would relate to any kind of books I read. I guess I would say if you like Practical Magic then you’ll like House of Ivy & Sorrow by Natalie Whipple. It’s got magic and stuff.

4. What is your opinion on commenting on blog posts?

I love the comment tab. I’m a serial commenter. I know it feels good to have people communicate with you about what you’re posting… no one wants crickets when they post.

5. What is your most anticipated read of 2014?

I’m with Stefani on this one and I’m going to say Isla and the Happily Ever After by Stephanie Perkins. This is the third and final book in the Anna and the French Kiss series. I don’t care what you say, this series is incrediballs. I recently had the honor of meeting Stephanie Perkins and she is as cute as her books are. I’m also excited for this book because I’m going to be driving up to Brandon to meet Stefani so we can buy the book together and then fangirl over it 🙂

6. We all know about blogger hype, which book have you read which did not live up to the hype?

Dorothy Must Die. <—- that was Stefani’s answer and I’m leaving it. This book was not what I had hoped.

7. Name one author whose books you will always read.

Tana French, she can do no wrong.

8. There are certain bloggers whose opinions I value, when they give a good review I will go out of my way to read that book. Name a blogger whose opinions you value and explain why?

Caught Read Handed, thebookheap & The Book Boozer to name a few. I respect and enjoy all of the blogs I actively follow and communicate with, so I could have made this list MUCH longer.

9. What is your favorite part of blogging? The book tours, the reviews, the memes, the community…?

Definitely meeting fellow booknerds 🙂 I’ve enjoyed making friends in real life and in booklandia. It’s been fun traveling over to Goodreads where the book conversations flow more easily. This has been the best experience ever.

10. What’s your favorite of your own blog posts?

Ummmmmm, probably my experience with my first book convention. That was fun to share.

11. What’s your favorite word and why?

Serendipity. It’s my favorite word for so many reasons. The meaning {a fortunate accident}, the movie {it’s one of my favorites} and the restaurant {try it out the next time you’re in NYC}.

12. How long do you spend reading blogs each week?

Too much time! I open my wordpress app on my phone at least 40 times a day. I may spend a minute flicking through the posts but I am always looking.

13. When is your favorite time to blog?

The morning.

14. Why do you think people blog?

I’d say it’s to share with other people their passion for reading. I say reading because I’m a book blog and I only follow book bloggers/writers. I read so much that I couldn’t hold it all in anymore. I wanted to shout from the rooftops every time I read a good book but a) that’s dangerous, 2) weird and C) I’m certain no one cares. So my blog is my virtual rooftop and it’s been so incredibly rewarding! I assume others blog for the same reasons.

15. How long does it take you to compose an average blog post?

I’m a fast typist and a fast thinker {which explains why my thoughts make no sense most of the time} so it might take me 10 minutes. I’m also a very relaxed and casual blogger so I’m not worried about sounding fancy. I just say what I think and call it a day.

16. What do you think makes a good blog?

I think a good blog is one that’s full of personality, honesty and passion. I don’t want to read a book report, I don’t want to be preached to. I want to look at a blog post and laugh and smile and feel. If you pour your heart into what you right, no matter what the context, it’ll shine through.

17. How do you find new blogs to follow?

Comments from the blogs I follow, WordPress reader, and tumblr.

18. Would you ever stop following a blog? Why?

If a blog isn’t jiving with me and what I like and we aren’t in communication, then yeah I would. But I haven’t met that blog yet!

19. When do you find it most difficult to blog?

I haven’t gotten there yet. Luckily

Blogs I’m tagging! Feel free to answer what questions you want even if you’re not tagged.
